Client: Moonlit Campers (Jennie & James)
Location: Whistler, BC
Project: 20" Aquafire | Camper Van Build | Mercedes Sprinter, "The Ski Chalet"
The Goal:
Jennie and James, the husband-and-wife duo behind Moonlit Campers, build out custom camper vans designed to feel less like a vehicle and more like a home on wheels. For their latest build, they wanted a feature that would set the van apart from a typical build-out and give it the kind of "wow factor" that makes a listing memorable...without adding bulk, weight, or complexity to an already tight 80-square-foot footprint.
The Finished Product:
Jennie and James installed a 20" Aquafire as the centerpiece of the van's main living area. Because Aquafire runs on 24V power, the same unit that anchors a living room at home dropped right into the van's electrical setup, no special retrofitting required. The flame speed and height are fully adjustable, so Jennie and James can dial in a subtle glow for daytime driving or dim it down for a cozy feel once they've parked for the night.
It's the same water vapor technology featured in other high-end builds and interiors: a real-looking flame with no combustion and no fumes, so it fits into a van's tight quarters without any of the ventilation concerns or safety hazards a gas or wood-burning option would involve.
The Results:
- A true ambiance centerpiece in an 80-square-foot space
- Cool-to-touch flame with no open flame risk — the only real option for fire ambiance in a space where a gas or wood-burning feature isn't safe to run
- No venting, gas lines, or clearance requirements to work around during the build
- Adjustable flame speed and brightness for day or night use
- A standout feature that differentiates the build from a typical van conversion

The Reception:
Even the skeptics came around. In the video, the fireplace draws an immediate reaction the moment it's revealed, with one half of the duo calling it flat-out incredible before realizing it's the same water vapor fireplace already installed in their own office.
What starts as disbelief that a real-looking flame feature could work in a van turns into genuine enthusiasm once they walk through how it runs — 24V power that works the same in a home or on the road, with adjustable flame speed and height for dialing in the mood at any time of day.
By the end of the walkthrough, it's called out as exactly the kind of feature that makes a build stand out: completely unique, and a certified "wow factor" moment.
